New Rust servers can take 24-48 hours to appear on the in-game list, please be patient. If it's been more than 48 hours and you server still doesn't appear in the in-game list, follow the steps below.
Is your client filtering out the server?
Before attempting to debug this issue, ensure it's not a filter problem on the client. When new Rust servers are created no players will be connected. Ensure your "Show Empty" checkbox underneath of Player Slots on the connection screen is ticked.
If your server still doesn't appear, try the following steps.
Are you able to connect to the server directly?
First check if you can connect to the server. Do this manually by:
- Open your Steam Client
- Click View in the top left.
- Click Servers and then the Favorites tab.
- Click Add Servers to Favorites
- Copy and paste the Server's IP and Port in the format of {IP}:{Port}. Save and click the refresh button on your Steam browser.
- Click on the server in the favorites list and join.
If you are unable to connect to your server, please raise a support ticket with our team, your server likely has some sort of error and we're here to help.
Is the server running on the latest version?
Ensure your server is running the latest version of Rust, and ideally enable auto update in your server settings.

Is the server modded?
If you're playing with Oxide (uMod) mods installed make sure you are in the modded section of the in-game list.
How long is your Hostname?
Hostnames longer than 40 characters are likely to not appear in the list, if your hostname is longer than 40 characters, consider shorterning it - follow this article: https://help.serverflex.io/how-to-set-the-subdomain-for-a-server/
Is anti-cheat (EAC) disabled?
Your server will not appear in the list if EAC is disabled.
